Manila Spirits International Ultimate Tournament 2008
Five years ago, an island community sought to honour the Spirit of the Game for the grass on which they played. A tournament was organised.
The Spirit saw that it was good and sent the Sarimanok, the legendary bird of the Maranao people of the Philippines, to carry its message of competition to lands near and far. Those who answered travelled over land and sea to pay tribute to this sacred Spirit.
When the island residents saw the size of the gathering, their spirits were filled with glee and cried thanks to the Spirit for its success. A grand celebration honouring the Spirit and the Sarimanok culminated the humble beginnings of this most holy tournament.
That time has come again.
